□ Name: Suigetsu Houzuki
□ Series: Naruto: Shippuuden
□ Canon point: Manga chapter 593, when Sasuke has just resurrected Orochimaru
□ History: Get'cher link right here!

□ Personality:

For someone who spent an unfortunate chunk of his adolescence trapped in a tank and being occasionally prodded by a mad scientist, Suigetsu comes off as being relatively well-adjusted. How much of it is a front is questionable; as a side character, there hasn’t been a lot of canon attention put into his underlying motivations and concealed motivations.

On the surface, he comes off as generally easygoing; he’s casual, not terribly respectful, and outgoing. He loves to tease, and doesn’t really give much of a crap about just whom he’s teasing when he does it. After all, anymore, there’s not too many things that can actually hurt him, so the risk of getting in a fight isn’t much of a risk at all. (Ariel will change that, of course, at least until he regains his powers – talk about a nasty shock to him!)

To some degree, that attitude is -- not a cover precisely, as it's quite genuinely the way he sees the world, but it does contain an element of bravado. It isn’t clear how long Suigetsu spent trapped in Otogakure, but it was long enough for Orochimaru to work changes to him on a genetic level, long enough that the implication is given that Suigetsu didn’t know about Zabuza’s death until Sasuke told him – so at least three years, then, and potentially longer. That’s a fairly significant chunk of adolescence to miss out on. For someone in that position, the options are to pull back and be uncertain of the world outside his prison, or go to striding in like he gives no shits about anything and anyone – and the latter option is certainly the one Suigetsu has chosen!

The insecurities hidden in Suigetsu’s saucy behavior aren’t strong ones, nothing that’s likely to make him crumble. But he has a distance from what people would consider “normal” life – a double distance, due to both his captivity in Otogakure and his childhood in Kirigakure as a young ninja, preparing himself for a life that was intended to be far from ordinary.

□ Age: 16
□ Gender: Male
□ Appearance: At first glance, he looks perfectly human, although a little odd; his chin-length hair is a bright white, and his eyes are a medium purple color, unusual in nature. His teeth are also noticeably inhuman -- broad, pointed triangles, and very sharp, instead of flat human teeth. With his mouth closed, one tooth protrudes between his lips a little ways, approximately located where a human canine tooth would be, although there's no visual difference between it and the rest of his teeth in terms of shape or length. When not manipulating his body, he's very lean (5'9" and 124 lbs) although he appears to be wiry rather than scrawny, as befits a ninja.
□ Abilities/Powers:

Apart from the standard ninja powers for the Naruto universe (e.g. water- and wall-walking, transformation illusions, energy-sensing, etc) Suigetsu possesses a set of unique abilities that are tied into his nature.

Essentially, Suigetsu’s body is only solid and fleshy because he uses his chakra to force it into a shape. He is composed entirely of water, and in his natural state, he’s pretty much a puddle. This isn’t entirely natural; it’s built on a basis of his bloodline’s technique, but he was an experimental subject of the mad ninja scientist Orochimaru for an undetermined length of time, and his current state is a result of Orochimaru’s work. Suigetsu’s appearance and build seem to be what he was prior to his time under Orochimaru’s attentions, but he’s able to morph his body at will, such as building up parts of his body that he specifically wishes to strengthen, or otherwise mutating himself to fit a need. As well, if he is physically struck, grabbed, or restrained in any way, he can simply discorporate back into water and flow away from it. So punching him simply results in a splash, as seen here
. He is, however, very vulnerable to electrical damage.

For the sake of Ariel’s power reduction in the lower social levels, I’m going to presume that the microchip will take over the task of Suigetsu’s chakra in terms of keeping his body solid, rather than a puddle. As he progresses and his chakra use is unlocked, his own natural energy will begin to take over the task of holding him solid, meaning that he’ll gradually regain the ability to discorporate. Most likely the transition will start with being able to alter his physical characteristics first, but still being held to a solid shape, and then a progression to being able to liquefy parts or all of his body with gradually decreasing levels of effort and concentration, until he transitions back to solidifying from a default liquid state rather than liquefying from a default solid state.

Suigetsu’s primary mode of combat is fighting with the use of a special sword called Kubikiribouchou, the Head-Cleaving Blade. The sword is enormous, at its full size nearly as tall as Suigetsu himself, and takes a great deal of strength to wield; Suigetsu generally prefers to buff his arm muscles before getting it going, to help him manage the weight of the blade. However, Kubikiri doesn’t need to be at its full size; the notable ability of the sword is to rebuild itself from the blood of its enemies. If the blade is broken – even if it’s taken all the way down so that nothing remains but a hilt – drawing blood with it allows it to re-form itself from the iron contained in the blood.

□ Personal Items: Clothing, a broken Kubikiribouchou, a matched set of water bottles on a special belt.

□ First Person Sample: Test Drive thread

□ Third Person Sample:
It's a video post, obviously shot in the dim of a dark room; Suigetsu's vision captures the scene in shades of smoky grey. A bedroom, occupied -- a figure with spiky black hair asleep, half-covered by a blanket, with his back to the door and the view. Suigetsu's going to be so dead when Sasuke checks the network next, but he's feeling smug and sneaky, so here he is.

Suigetsu slips into the room, his vision focused on Sasuke, taking in the expansive of his bare back; as he draws closer, scattered marks become more easily visible, what are clearly bite marks from very sharp teeth scattered over Sasuke's shoulders and back. He takes a good long look, then withdraws quietly, not speaking until he's out of the bedroom. Then, eyes closed, he offers up verbally,
"So there's a view for you all. Enjoy it, hey? Pretty fun leaving marks on that guy." And then with a low chuckle, "He's gonna kill me when he wakes up. Worth it?"
